Long Bay College, Popularity of Dance Increasing

Dance classes at Long Bay College are hugely popular with both girls and boys. Head of Subject Dance, Ms Sophie Tabakas has been teaching dance for 4 years at Long Bay College. Sophie is passionate about all types of dance and is impressed with the enthusiasm and dance skills of the students. Dance classes at Long Bay College include: Hip Hop dance; Popping/Hip Hop classes; Samoan Dance classes; Lyrical Dance classes; Jazz Dance classes and Contemporary Dance classes. All classes are offered to all year levels. ‘Dance is hugely popular with boys as well as girls. When I first came to this school no boys had ever taken Dance and now there are boys in every single Dance Class. Four more classes were added to the timetable for this term as the demand for more dance classes is so high. The extra curricular Dance classes are also full and take place everyday after school. These classes also have a large amount of boys in them’.
